Live the Redentore Festival in Venice as a venetian
Every year in Venice you can live the magic atmosphere of Redentore Festival.
The Redentore Festival is one of the most ancient Venetian popular festival which is held the third weekend of July remembering the end of a terrible plague in Venice. In honor of that, the Venetians built a temple on the Giudecca island, Chiesa del Redentore, designed by Palladio, which is reachable by a 330 meters bridge made of boats.
The Redentore Festival is one of the best-loved by Venetians, who, following a 400 years ritual, on saturday evening gather hundreds of boats decorated with branches and multi-colored balloons in the bay of San Marco to admire the fireworks and their reflections on the waters of the lagoon, play music, dance and celebrate the beginning of the summer holiday season for many Venetians.
More the 1500 boats gather every year the San Marco bay for the Redentore Festival and more then 3000 person watch from the shore the great midnight fireworks.
On Sunday afternoon, there is a regatta of young rowers in the Guidecca canal, followed by a regatta for seniors, and ending with a gondola regatta.
