The fourth edition of the IRB Junior World Championship 2011 will be taking place for the first time in Veneto, where it will be hosted in Padua, Treviso e Rovigo.

The first international match of the IRB JWC will be taking place in only 28 days, since the Championship will start on June 10^th and will last until June 26^th.

The Italy Rugby Team will be among the firsts to play, starting to compete against the New Zealand Team – the current champions – and then Argentina and Wales.

You will certainly enjoy the Championship, because the 12 World Rugby Teams are all very well-trained and in the running for the World Title.

The distinctive feast FESTA DEL GRANO is taking place on 11^th July 2010 in Villamarzana in Rovigo province.

It is a feast of the harvest showing how our grandparents used to gather the grain.

The fact that the audience is taking active part in the feast gives liveliness to the process of harvesting, done by a threshing machine which was especially renovated for the occasion. There is amazement among the people participating in the old tradition to gather the precious grain for the flour and then for the bread. A tractor helps the machine with a long cord to gather the wheat clean from the ear. After the harvest everybody can taste the typical roast pork on split. The evening continues with dances: the best orchestras will play for the guests creating incomparable atmosphere.!!!

The dances will be accompanied by excellent music and the odour of the typical local cuisine. The guests will have the opportunity to taste plenty of dishes on really good prices in the uncontaminated atmosphere of a the place.

The center of Villamarzana is still structured like a typical rural village. Due to the closeness to Michiela, place famous for the proto-villanovan finds, and the position near the bank of the river, it is possible that Villamarzana is built on the rests of an much older village.

From major importance today there are:

• the S. Bartolomeo church with a splendid bell tower from the 1000 year, however the rest of the church is from ca. 1400.

• a noble palace from the 800 year, still in very good conditions.

• The parish church built on the rests of an older church from the 972 dedicated to S. Stefano Papa Martire, where since 1860 there is marvelous altar and pipe organ

• The villa with a park, property of the Maffei Giglioli family.

A Villamarzana in provincia di Rovigo si terrà fino all’11 Luglio 2010 la caratteristica FESTA DEL GRANO.

La dimostrazione della mietitura proprio come facevano i nostri nonni ovvero la dimostrazione di come un tempo i nostri nonni ottenevano i chicchi di grano! Grande partecipazione di pubblico alla Festa del Grano di Villamarzana, che nel caldo estivo da vita alla rappresentazione della mietitura di un tempo con una macchina trebbiatrice appositamente restaurata. Tanto stupore tra le decine di persone che assistono a questa tecnica antica per ottenere il tanto e prezioso grano per la farina e quindi per il pane.

Un trattore aziona con una lunga corda il sistema meccanico della macchina che dopo diverse procedure consegna al coltivatore, in questo caso al pubblico, i chicchi di grano puliti dalla spiga. In seguito alla dimostrazione della trebbiatura i presenti possono proseguire la giornata con la degustazione della tipica porchetta allo spiedo.

La festa proseguirà con serate a tema danzante: le migliori orchestre appositamente selezionate saranno a vostra disposizione per notti festosamente ineguagliabili!! Potrete ballare accompagnati oltre che da ottima musica, dai profumi della tipica cucina locale, che con gioiosa ospitalità verranno fatti assaggiare ai visitatori a prezzi veramente economici in un ambiente incontaminato dove ancor oggi la natura rigogliosa fa da corona ad un’ancestrale autenticità popolare.

Il centro di Villamarzana, oggi si presenta ancora come un tipico paese rurale della campagna polesana, tutto però lascia pensare che l’abitato, essendo vicinissimo alla Michiela, località famosa per i suoi ritrovamenti protovillanoviani, ed essendo per la sua quasi totalità in riva al corso d’acqua, possa essere sorto sulle fondazionidi un più antico villaggio chiaramente d’epoca paleoveneta.

Di notevole interesse artistico sono oggi:

-La chiesa dedicata a S. Bartolomeo che mostra ancora uno stupendo campanile sicuramente eretto attorno all’anno 1000, mentre parte della chiesa stessa risale al 1400 c.a.

-Un palazzo nobiliare dell’800, ancora in buone condizioni, rende poi la frazione,molto suggestiva.

-La chiesa parrocchiale edificata sulle fondamenta della vecchia chiesa plebana del 972 dedicata a S.Stefano Papa Martire, dove si può ammirare un pregevole altare maggiore e l’organo risalente al 1860.

-La villa con annesso parco, di proprietà della famiglia Maffei Giglioli.
